After years of promoting curated movie collections with cherry-picked clips and stills, Netflix made the move to commission illustrators and animators to represent collections catering to important moments in its members’ lives.

The celebrated moments ranged from the global to the hyper-local — from year-end holidays and Earth Day to Thai Songkran and Ramadan in the Indonesian tradition. For this reason, it was super important to seek out artists with authentic lived experience of a given moment.
